Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at the Chicago Public Library

IN CELEBRATION OF Hispanic Heritage Month, Associate Professor Elio Leturia (Fulbright USA ’90) who teaches graphic design and multimedia journalism at Columbia College Chicago is presenting “Cross | Cruce” which includes illustrations, page design, posters and photography.

This exhibit opened on September 15 and will remain available to the public until October 15 at the Harold Washington Library (3rd floor, east side) in downtown Chicago.

Noche Bohemia: A night with Latino flavor

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Chicago Chapter of the Fulbright Association and Northeastern Illinois University invite you to Noche Bohemia.

Noche Bohemia is a traditional night of music infused by Latin American spirit. We’ll kick off the night with a presentation “Identity and Self-Determination Through Folkloric Music and Romantic Rhythms of Latin America,” by renowned Uruguayan musician, composer and journalist Elbio Barilari.

The night will continue with a musical performance by Argentinean singer and actress Alba Guerra who will interpret a diverse program of Latin American rhythms, accompanied by Peruvian pianist Carlos Lee. Food and drinks are included in this night of authentic celebration.

The event will take place on Friday October 14, 6-10 pm. at the Golden Eagles Room of the Student Union, Northeastern Illinois University, 5500 North Saint Louis Avenue, Chicago 60625 (see below.) Complimentary parking is offered on levels 4 and 5 of the parking structure.

Get ready for the 2010 Hispanic Heritage Month celebration!

Mark your calendars for September 17. The  Fulbright Association-Chicago Chapter is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen.

“Bicentennial Independence Movements in Latin America: An Inspiration of National Unity” will bring together Fulbright students, scholars, teachers, alumni and members of the Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela consulates to celebrate the bicentennial of the independence of these Latin American countries.
