Two days of documentary films at Columbia College Chicago. Free!

 


THE CHICAGO CHAPTER of the Fulbright Association is very pleased to partner with Columbia College Chicago Interdisciplinary Documentary Program and invite Fulbright alumni, students and scholars to attend DOCYOURWORLD, two days of documentaries through screenings and panel presentations. The best of all: It’s FREE!

Two feature-length documentary films, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” and “Cowspiracy” plus two receptions are part of the program.

All panels and screenings take place at Film Row Cinema, Columbia College Chicago, located on the 8th floor of 1104 S. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60605.

Documentary, tango concert and reception celebrating Tita Lage

IN MARCH 1913,  Tita Lage was born in Galicia, Spain. At 17 she moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina and at 73 she relocated to the U.S. The day she turned 102 years old she became an American citizen.

During her life in Argentina, Tita Lage met first lady Eva Perón and tango icon Carlos Gardel. She was a close friend of famous actress and singer Tita Merello, an early Argentine performer to appear in South American movies.

albaAfter the short film, local singer Alba Guerra (left), will delight us with a Tango concert, (“Por una Cabeza,” “Madreselva,” “Uno,” among others) accompanied by musician Juan Ignacio Jones. A reception will follow.

This event is organized by the Instituto Cervantes in collaboration with the Consulate General of Argentina, Consulate General of Peru and Chicago Chapter of the Fulbright Association.

“REPORTERS AGAINST SILENCE” is a documentary produced by journalist and Fulbrighter Alex Ormaza, who shot it while on a Fulbright grant in Mexico.

The Chicago Chapter of the Fulbright Association invites you to two special screenings of this film. A different panel discussion will follow each individual screening. Each event is FREE.
