The 146-page bilingual book presents over 300 photographs.
Aguijón Theater, the oldest Latino theater company in Chicago, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the release of an illustrated bilingual book. The historical research was led by Peruvian journalist and Columbia College Chicago Associate Professor Elio Leturia (Fulbright USA, 1990-91) and was supported by Mexican writers Andrea Ojeda and Marcopolo Soto.

In eight chapters, in Spanish and English, 146 pages and more than 300 photographs, you will find the history of Aguijón Theater since its inception. The book includes the congratulations of the 2010 Nobel Prize for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa, as well as 14 testimonies of playwrights and theater scholars from Colombia, Uruguay, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Spain, Peru, Mexico and the United States.

Director and actor Rosario Vargas founded Aguijón Theater in 1989.

So far, Aguijón Theater has produced three plays: “Casa Propia,” “No se vende” and “La gran Tirana.” “Exquisita agonía” opens on October 17, 2019 as part of Destinos, III Chicago International Latino Theater Festival.
