THE CONSULATE OF PERU in Chicago,  the Chicago Chapter of the Fulbright Association and the Columbia College Chicago Communication Department invite you to attend the “Aguijón 30 años | Aguijón 30 Years” book launch and reception.

The 146-page bilingual book presents over 300 photographs.

Aguijón Theater, the oldest Latino theater company in Chicago, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the release of an illustrated bilingual book. The historical research was led by Peruvian journalist and Columbia College Chicago Associate Professor Elio Leturia (Fulbright USA, 1990-91) and was supported by Mexican writers Andrea Ojeda and Marcopolo Soto.

In eight chapters, in Spanish and English, 146 pages and more than 300 photographs, you will find the history of Aguijón Theater since its inception. The book includes the congratulations of the 2010 Nobel Prize for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa, as well as 14 testimonies of playwrights and theater scholars from Colombia, Uruguay, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Spain, Peru, Mexico and the United States.

Director and actor Rosario Vargas founded Aguijón Theater in 1989.

So far, Aguijón Theater has produced three plays: “Casa Propia,” “No se vende” and “La gran Tirana.” “Exquisita agonía” opens on October 17, 2019 as part of Destinos, III Chicago International Latino Theater Festival.

ON A SUNNY Sunday, April 28, around 65 Fulbright scholars and students, Fulbright alumni and guests gathered to say farewell both to each other and to the city of Chicago.

The day began with a guided tour of the National Museum of Mexican Art in the Pilsen neighborhood where we all had the chance to admire paintings, sculptures, artifacts and multimedia presentations in the only Latino museum accredited by American Alliance of Museums in the United States.

After the visit to this unique cultural center, Fulbright students, scholars and alumni enjoyed a casual buffet and drinks at D’Nuez Restaurant in the same Pilsen area, and had another chance to share stories about their Fulbright experiences in the United States during the time they spent studying, teaching or working here.

Time flies when we are having fun, even though we are saying “adiós.”

WITH THE AIM of internationalizing Polish Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and scientific institutions, the ULAM Program from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange invites scientists from all over the world to apply to this exciting opportunity. The Program will allow both recognized and promising scientists with at least a doctoral degree, to visit Poland in order to strengthen the scientific potential of Polish entities and to participate in their scientific activities, primarily research projects and pedagogy.

The Program will facilitate a gradual increase in the number of foreign scientists involved in scientific research and teaching in Poland, and also enable and deepen international contacts with foreign institutions.

The Program is open to scientists representing all fields of science.
